Bandura and the bobo doll experiment- attempt 2

Right.... i read over the experiment again. It does make sense, to some extent.
At the end of my reading i found that the experiment was inconclusive and has not been fully proved. Tad disappointed after writing up 3 pages about it!
It all seemed a lot of hard work to me to be fair lol!

Im not going to explain it all on here aswell so heres a bit of the bobo doll original footage, just hope i upload it right!!

History of childhood

Right.. a fresh monday morning now i feel ready to study! I have been trowling through Warwicks web catalogue for our directed time activities.
Here is what i found for our 3 further references relating to an aspect of the history of childhood...

Hanawalt, B. (1995) Growing up in medieval London: the experience of childhood in history. Oxford University press (yay my 1st reference, hope its right!)

Hanawalt in this book reveals the dramatic life of the common people, in this instance, the lives of children in London during the 14th and 15th centuries.
She shows that contrary to what some historians believe, medieval adults did recognise and pay close attention to the various stages of childhood and adolescence.

Horne, J. (2011) History and the construction of the child in early British children's literature. Farnham, Surrey; Burlington, VT

This book is about understanding the cultural context relevant to children and to literature in a time of change.

DeMause, L. (1991) The history of childhood: the untold story of child abuse. London: Bellew

Now for the google keyword search relating to the history of childhood!

http://www.essortment.com/history-child-psychology-21036.html

http://www.faqs.org/childhood/Ch-Co/Comparative-History-of-Childhood.html

http://www.open2.net/theinventionofchildhood/culturalchildhoods2.html

Hope im on the right track!

The website i have chosen to write a summary about is the history of child psychology, even though this is a very brief overview of child psychology i found it the most interesting!
In medieval times, laws generally did not distinguish between child and adult offenses. Prior to 1600 Aries concluded that European societies did not accord any special status to children. Children were treated as mini adults and didnt have an emotional bond as strong as the children of today would have.
Rousseau stressed that children are inherently good and they should be able to grow with little parental monitoring. Throughout history our perspective of children has dramatically changed. We now see childhood as a unique period of life that lays down foundations for going into the adult years.

Really enjoyed doing that :) now off to get ready for uni induction!

Social learning theory- Albert Bandura

Been researching into Bandura (well attempting to anyway!) he is one of the biggest theorists of social learning. Bandura's theory is that people learn from one another via observation, imitation and modelling. I found out that he conducted 2 experiments in 1961 and 1963 called 'the bobo experiment' studying patterns of behaviour associated with aggression. I have attempted to read through the experiment today without any clue of what it all meant!! all i can tell u is there was 36 boys and 36 girls aged between 3 and 6 lol! better read through it again and actually understand it!

Day out to warwick with my new school friends!

Woooooow i cant get over how amazing uni is! Felt like i shouldnt be there, like an intruder lol! first off we parked about a mile away from everything so we felt like we needed a golf buggy to get us to and fro like in american films lol we sat and had drinks (non alcoholic ;)) in a dainty cafe, toured the sports hall and got hoared by buff rugby players haha! then after we'd mooched about a bit we had a tour booked in for the library!
Comparing college library to uni library, i cant even explain how extravagant warwicks library is! I might not see it very often seeing as maria and beth like to get us in trouble! :P haha how were we supposed to know that was the silent level!? oh and usin the service elevator didnt help our case much either! tut tut naughty girls
Unfortunately we couldnt pick up our uni cards yet so thats a job 4 monday! today we've been talkin about linkin paragraphs together so u dont go off on random different subjects.. good job my blog isnt essential as i go off in all directions possible!
Today was a brain overload, maybe its because im tired, hungry and stressed bout moving but felt like there was a pile of paper in front of me that kept gettin higher and higher and so on..
i am NOT liking the essay we have 2 read and mark ourselves.. i dont know what most of the words mean!! and its around 8 pages long lol! EPIC FAIL!!
not really understanding the study skills presentation etc so gonna have another read through it all when im more relaxed lol.. feel a bit better now typed it all out onto here.
anyway heres a link relevant to fi's lecture today on child development theories:

Gemma rang me and offered me a place at uni (yay!) i literally danced and screamed around work! My boss thought i was goin crazy! I feel like iv had a 10 ton weight lifted of my shoulders, the phone call came at the perfect time.
About an hour earlier i could've cried from all the stress through moving house :( im not gonna let it get to me cuz my amazing friends and family are helping and supporting me.. somehow it always works out..
Anywaaay iv been reading up on Rousseau & Piaget today.. only little bits and bobs but very interesting! Had another look through all the module booklets (lets face it, it takes a few times to get ya head round them)
Cant believe monday is only 4 days anyway and the beginning to the start of my new life! I cant wait, actually havin the opportunity to do something that i love doing and not just doin it cuz its 'work'
WOOOOOOOO end of an emotional hectic day... early night for me!!!!

First blog- one to remember

Well.. first blog i have ever written! Weird. I suppose my beginning hasnt really started yet since i havent received my letter back but im hoping for the next week to bring good news! Well.. i've been to 2 days at college so far (unofficially) the tutors are so helpful and are making life so much easier with this huge change for us all!
The past week i have had so many different emotions it's unreal! Starting Uni, preparing to move house, working, and everyday stresses.
I know im going to love being at uni through the good, the hard work and having the feeling of accomplishment.
Few of the parts of the modules have confused me (alot) but i know we have all got so much support surrounding us. The thing i find mega daunting is standing up in front of people and trying not to stutter, stumble and talk complete nonsense!
Im gonna make my first blog short and sweet and end it here. First of many blogs!
